# Maintenance Overview

> Learn about regular maintenance procedures for Ocient, ensuring system stability and longevity.

Ocient® System Administrators need to perform maintenance for three primary reasons:

* When the Ocient software requires action, such as rebuilding lost or damaged segments
* When firmware or OS software updates are required
* When drive, memory, or system hardware failures occur
